Timing Matters

Receiving treatment within the first 60 minutes of a heart attack is called the Golden Hour; that hour can drastically improve survival rates and prevent further medical issues.

If you can understand that physically, you can grasp what Jesus showed us spiritually at the start, middle, and end of His public ministry. King Solomon said, “There is a time for everything,” and Jesus gives us a beautiful example of it in His life. Today we call it time management, scheduling, planning. Since we all have an expiration date, wisdom teaches us to number our days—70 years, and by reason of strength, 80.

Pay attention to how Jesus checked His life-watch.

1. He paced Himself.

With all the people, popularity, and priorities, He disciplined the crowd’s demands.
He didn’t rush redemption; He did it with rhythm.

At a wedding in Cana, His mother requested He turn water into wine. He said, “Woman, why does this concern us? My hour has not yet come” (John 2:4). Mindful of His divine clock, He honored her request but reserved the full public demonstration of His glory.

2. He trusted God to protect His schedule.

There are so many things in life that can detour us for 5 or 10 years—a bad relationship, sickness, a grudge. In Jesus’ case, His enemies wanted to kill Him, but “no one laid a hand on Him, because His hour had not yet come” (John 7:30).

When we align ourselves with God’s agenda, He will protect us. The authorities sought to seize Him, but they couldn’t. He grew in influence and confidence because this was His moment and message.

3. He trusted prayer to disclose His exit time

Your seasons of prayer with the Father will reveal where you are on the journey. In His High Priestly Prayer, Jesus confirms, “Father, the hour has come” (John 17:1), tying His prayer to the people and the passion—the cross and resurrection.

Nothing is out of the reach of God. In the plot to kill Jesus and in the gravity of salvation, God is in every second, every minute, every hour of His Son’s movements.

Time matters. Man created the clock, but God created the seasons.
Trust the One who made time—not the one who measures it.

Surrender your planner.
Lay down your deadlines.
Give God your expectations.
Let Him set the pace, protect you, and determine how your story will end.

Because the God who controls the hour
also controls the harvest.

And here’s the good news:

God never wastes an hour.
Not the hour you cried.
Not the hour you failed.
Not the hour you waited.
Not the hour you thought He forgot.

Every hour is redeemed in His hands.

So plant when it’s time to plant.
Grow when it’s time to grow.
Harvest when it’s time to harvest.
Rest when it’s time to rest.

Get in rhythm with Heaven.
Get in sync with the seasons.
Get busy living the hour God has given you.

Check your watch.
