Seeing the Whole Field: Trusting God in Suffering
Seeing the Whole Field: Trusting God in Suffering
Suffering raises more questions than answers. Like Job, we ask: Why this pain? What did I do to deserve it? But Job’s story reminds us that wisdom belongs to God alone—because He sees what we can’t.
“God understands the way to it… for He views the ends of the earth and sees everything under the heavens.”
— Job 28:23–24
My high school football coach used to say, “See the whole field.” It was good advice on the field—and even better for life. We only see the moment we’re in. But God sees the whole field—our past, our pain, and our purpose. He knows how to use suffering to grow us, refine us, and draw us deeper into His heart.
Job’s friends tried to explain his suffering. But Job didn’t just talk about God—he talked to God. That changed everything. He didn’t get all the answers… but he got something better: he encountered God Himself.
Sometimes what we need most isn’t an explanation.
Sometimes what we need is an encounter.
