May I Have This Dance?
“So go to the street corners and invite anyone to the banquet.”
— Matthew 22:9
Grace is God’s outstretched hand. It flows from His unlimited love, threading its way through Scripture—from the fall of man to our redemption in Christ. Grace is undeserved, unstoppable, often unseen, yet always extended, whispering: “May I have this dance?”
Walking with God is far more like a dance than a wrestling match. Change can feel like tug-of-war or push-and-pull, but grace makes room for freedom, joy, and flow. We often exhaust ourselves proving we are “worthy,” yet the life God offers is not earned but received—like stepping into rhythm with a partner who already knows the steps.
In Romans, the Gentiles weren’t even looking for God’s invitation, yet when it came, they responded in faith—no resistance, no hesitation. The Jews, on the other hand, clung to their own party: self-effort, systems, and control ( Romans 9:30-32). They missed the dance of grace.
Jesus tells of a king who invited everyone—good and bad—to his wedding feast (Matthew 22:1-14). He provided the meal, the music, and even the garments. Yet one guest refused to wear the robe, rejecting the king’s gracious gift. This garment represents Christ’s righteousness. To decline it is to insult the King Himself.
So, what garment are you wearing? The King has already provided everything—His presence, His provision, His covering. All that’s left is a simple yes.
God is asking, “May I have this dance?”
