God Is Bigger Than Our Ugly Past

No matter who you are or what you’ve done, you can be saved by the grace of God. That’s the heartbeat of the book of Romans—the good news of salvation is available through Jesus Christ to anyone willing to trust Him (Romans 1:16). Anyone!

The Greek word for “good news” is εὐαγγέλιον (euangélion), which literally means “good message” or “good announcement.” In the ancient world, euangélion described any good report—like a runner bringing word of a military victory. In the New Testament, it takes on its richest meaning: God’s good news—the announcement of salvation through Jesus Christ.

Keep the good news good. Whatever mess you’ve convinced yourself you can’t be rescued from, trust the explosive power of God’s gospel. Set aside the negativity and “it’s impossible” talk—and believe. This is the kind of change that changes everything.

Romans makes it plain: God shows no partiality. We are all guilty, and we are all offered His gift of salvation. Nothing else on earth can give you this kind of restart, reset, and regeneration but God’s good gospel of grace.

So, what are you waiting for? There is nothing in your past that God cannot handle.
