Let the Lord Take the Wheel
If you want to arrive where God is calling you, you can’t stay in the driver’s seat. The Lord must take the wheel.
We like smooth highways and easy streets, but the Lord travels differently. He goes through Nazareth, through broken places, through wounded communities. He takes us where we’d never choose—but where transformation happens.
The Lord isn’t asking you to be successful. He’s asking you to surrender. And surrender always feels like dying. But unless the seed falls to the ground and dies, it cannot bring new life (John 12:24).
The Struggle Is Real
The real question in life is this: Will you drive, or will the Lord?
When we insist on driving, we circle the same roads, hit the same potholes, and sometimes run out of gas. But when we let Him lead, the journey becomes purposeful and full of peace.
I’ve learned this from men and women who’ve battled addiction. In recovery, Step 3 challenges them to “turn their will and lives over to the care of God.” That’s not easy. It feels like death. But it’s the beginning of real freedom.
Surrender will always feel risky—but it’s the only way to change.
God’s GPS for the Journey (James 4:7–10)
1. Submission: Hand Him the Keys (v.7)
“Submit yourselves, then, to God.” Transformation begins when you stop steering and let Him drive.
2. Resistance: Ignore the Wrong Exits (v.7b)
“Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” Not every road is worth taking. When the Lord drives, detours lose their power.
3. Relationship: Stay Close to the Navigator (v.8)
“Come near to God and he will come near to you.” The closer you stay, the clearer His voice becomes—like unmuting the GPS.
4. Repentance: Clear the Roadblocks (v.8–9)
“Wash your hands… purify your hearts.” Repentance removes the debris that keeps you stuck. Brokenness becomes the soil where new life grows.
5. Reward: Reaching New Heights (v.10)
“Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.” The low road of humility leads to the high ground of His grace.
So here’s the question today: Who’s driving your life—you or the Lord?
Hand Him the keys. Let Him take the wheel. He’ll take you further than you ever dreamed.
Grace to you,
Cedric
