Won’t He Do It? He’s Done It

God has already made you holy and right—even while you’re still battling sin. Let that sink in. You don’t have to wait until some distant future. Right now, in Christ, you are chosen, loved, and made new.

Yet this is where many stumble. We tell ourselves, “I can’t change. Why keep trying?” Some even settle for pretending, managing sin instead of trusting grace. Outwardly, they talk about how great God is, but inside they wonder, “Can He really keep me? Is my salvation secure?” “I know He saved me but can He sustain me?”

Paul answers with confidence:
“May the God of peace make you holy in every way… God will make this happen, for He who calls you is faithful” (1 Thessalonians 5:23–24).

Didn’t He do it?
Yes—He’s already done it. Too often we push salvation into the future - making it a contest, forgetting that God’s Word says, now we are holy, blameless, and set apart (Ephesians 1:4; Hebrews 2:11, 10:10). What we could never make happen for ourselves, He has already accomplished.

And He doesn’t stop there. Right now, He can keep you from falling—if you call on Him. Releasing the past gives you freedom to embrace the present and hope for the future.

That’s why the timeless Serenity Prayer still inspires us:

“God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
the courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference.”

So, when you wonder if He will do it, remember this: He already has.
And the One who began the good work in you will carry it through (Philippians 1:6).

Grace and peace,
Cedric
