Enjoy What You’ve Been Given

King Solomon, after wrestling with money, power, and purpose, gave us this wisdom:

“It is good… to eat, to drink, and find satisfaction in your labor during the few days of life God has given—for this is your lot” (Ecclesiastes 5:18).

Life can be complicated—but goodness is still possible. God has already placed joy within reach.

Claim Your Table

Food and drink are not just necessities—they’re gifts. Meals with family and friends become sacred spaces. The Jews had a saying: “There is bread and salt between us”—once we’ve shared a meal, we can share our hearts.

From Genesis—“Eat freely”—to Revelation—“Drink freely”—Scripture is one long invitation to God’s table. Solomon reminds us: put oil on your head, feast with joy, and celebrate the portion you’ve been given.

Claim Your Task

Work is not a curse but a calling. God has given you skills—use them! Find it, feed it, fight for it, finish it.

Your lot, your puzzle piece, is essential. The world is waiting for what only you can bring.

Claim Your Treasure

True contentment isn’t found in possessions or status—it comes from God. “Without Him, who can eat or find enjoyment?” (Ecclesiastes 2:25).

Jesus promised: “I have told you this so that My joy may be in you and your joy may be complete” (John 15:11). Paul echoed: “Rejoice in the Lord always” (Philippians 4:4).

But here’s the tragedy: many have everything—wealth, honor, family—yet lack the ability to enjoy it. Solomon said this is a heavy burden under the sun.

The Hope

Today, 51% of young Americans say they feel down or hopeless. Depression weighs on our culture. But God offers strength:

“The joy of the Lord is your strength” (Nehemiah 8:10).

Life holds both joy and sorrow—but Jesus promised: “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world” (John 16:33).

Final Word

Don’t miss God’s simple gifts—food, drink, work, and gladness of heart. Build joyfully on your lot. Stop wishing for someone else’s portion.

Claim your table. Claim your task. Claim your treasure.
And let God’s joy be your strength.

Grace to you,
Cedric
