God’s Grace at 63
I know this may sound ordinary, but I’m not trying to bring God down to our level. I’m simply acknowledging the obvious: grace is God’s unique work. Who else can handle such a big job? Grace is God’s universal availability of goodness—goodness that transcends performance, worthiness, or earned status.
Paul reminds us that Christ “holds all creation together” (Colossians 1:17). Richard Rohr calls Him the goodness glue—the One filling all the gaps in the universe. We see it in the harmony of the seasons, in the animal kingdom, in the stars above, and most profoundly at the cross, where He died to save undeserving humanity.
“All things were created through Him and for Him” (Colossians 1:16). Have you ever wondered why you were placed in solidarity within such a benevolent world? Everything belongs. Nothing stands alone. All of creation is designed to work in concert—through Him and for Him. And when the world got messy, He didn’t abandon it—He graciously cleaned it up. Rather than destroy Adam and Eve, He disciplined them. He has always been the universally available goodness glue, willing and ready to fill every gap, crack, and rift. Who else can do that but a good and gracious God?
And He doesn’t just patch things up. C.S. Lewis once told the story of a vase shattered into countless pieces. In human hands, it could be glued back together, but it would never be the same. Yet in God’s hands, the broken vase isn’t merely restored—it’s transformed. The cracks, instead of being flaws, become conduits for His light, creating a masterpiece more beautiful than the original. That is the nature of grace. It doesn’t simply repair—it renews.
So whatever difficult situation you may be facing, call on Him. He is universally available, infinitely compassionate, and graciously able to transform your reality. Why? Because you were created through Him and for Him. And grace—that’s His unique job.
Grace to you,
Cedric
