Guilty, Not Guilty

The Prosecutor steps forward and declares, “Say yes to the mess.”
We are all universally guilty. The evidence is undeniable:

“There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who understands; there is no one who seeks God.” — Romans 3:10–11

What an indictment of our character and nature. Not a soul stands guiltless.

The Prosecutor presses on: our conversations betray our corruption.

“Their throats are open graves; their tongues practice deceit. The poison of vipers is on their lips.” — Romans 3:13–14

Graves are sealed to hide the stench of decay. An unsealed grave exposes the rot within. So do our words. Listen long enough, and you’ll hear the evidence of an unregenerate heart.

Finally, the Prosecutor concludes: our conduct condemns us.

“Their feet are swift to shed blood; ruin and misery mark their ways… there is no fear of God before their eyes.” — Romans 3:15–18

But just when the courtroom falls silent, the Defense rises.
“Yes,” He says, “all have sinned—but all are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.” — Romans 3:23–24

And then, from heaven’s bench, the Judge declares:

“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” — Romans 8:1

Case dismissed. Sentence reversed. Verdict overturned.
We were guilty, but now we are not guilty. Grace took the stand, and mercy rendered the final judgment.

“For He has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son He loves.” — Colossians 1:13–14

Today’s Grace Reflection

Where have you been living as though still on trial?
Let grace remind you — the verdict is in. You’ve been declared free.

Grace Every Day Benediction

Grace has taken the witness stand and spoken on your behalf.
Walk in freedom, not fear.
Live acquitted, not accused.
You are justified freely by grace.

Grace to you,
Cedric
