May I Have This Dance?

Grace Every Day Thought
Grace flows from God’s limitless love. It’s the thread that runs through all of Scripture—from the fall to redemption—God’s unearned generosity, freely available, often unnoticed, yet always extended. Grace keeps reaching out, saying:
“May I have this dance?”
Following God is more like dancing than wrestling. Change can feel like a tug-of-war between fear and faith, but the grace dance silences resistance and fills life with joy. Like Adam and Eve, we often overreach, trying to prove our worth. But walking with God isn’t about performance—it’s about participation.
It’s receiving, not resisting.
Dance or Wrestle?
From eternity, God has invited everyone to the dance. The choice is ours—dance or wrestle. In Romans 9, the Gentiles weren’t even seeking God, yet when the invitation came, they joined the dance with joy. Many Jews, however, clung to self-effort and religious control. They wrestled when they could have rejoiced.
Are you standing against the wall while others move freely to the rhythm of grace? The prodigal son joined the party; his older brother folded his arms in protest. Both were invited—but only one accepted the dance.
The Garment of Grace
Jesus told of a king who invited everyone—good and bad—to his wedding feast and even provided garments (Matthew 22:8-12). One guest refused to wear them—an insult to the king’s generosity. Some still try to come to God wearing their own righteousness instead of the robe He provides. Sin isn’t only wrongdoing—it’s refusing grace, closing ourselves off from divine love. Scripture calls that “quenching the Spirit” (Ephesians 4:30).
Everything Is Ready
So what garment are you wearing—your own or the King’s? Will you dance or wrestle?
God’s invitation is lavish: the meal, the music, the joy—everything prepared. What He offers is radical transformation for a simple yes.
Every religion teaches how to earn favor, but grace simply says, “You’re already loved—come dance.”
No wrestling, no proving. Just dancing.

Where are you resisting grace—trying to control the rhythm instead of letting God lead?
Grace doesn’t demand strength; it invites surrender.
“Grace is not a tug-of-war; it’s a dance of surrender.”
